Pedestrian bridge
Municipality of GaressioGiugiaro Architettura has been commissioned by the Municipality of Garessio for the reconstruction project of the General Odasso Bridge, which was demolished after the 2020 flood to prevent future flood risks in the historic center. The new bridge, financed by the PNRR, will have a single span, without pylons in the riverbed to minimize hydraulic risk, and will have a thin deck to limit the height of the walking surface relative to Via Vittorio Emanuele II.
The metal carpentry structure will be supported by a central parabolic arch, up to 10 meters high, with a square section of 85 cm side rotated by 45°, from which the deck will be suspended via vertical tie rods. The bridge, approximately 50 meters long and 5.80 meters wide, will have a clear roadway of 2.25 meters per side at the entrance. With a fluid and curvilinear design, the bridge widens in the central part, creating a sort of square that offers a stopping and meeting point, with benches overlooking the river.
